The latest golf day was held on Friday 23rd September and raised £1500 for local charity, Young Gloucestershire.
The Business in Gloucestershire (BIG) Golf Day has now raised almost £30,000 for local charities. The latest golf day was on Friday 23 September 2016 and raised £1550 for the charity, Young Gloucestershire, which supports disadvantaged young people who are facing challenges in their lives (Young Gloucestershire).
The event, which was sponsored by CF Roberts, a leading provider of electrical and mechanical services, was held at Lilley Brook Golf Club, Cheltenham. The event was attended by local business people from across Gloucestershire, including representatives from Kier Construction, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, Lodders Solicitors, Knights LLP, RES Architecture, Tayntons Solicitors and Elliot Oliver Lettings.
Founder of BIG, Ian Eggleton, Director at Cheltenham-based Surveyors and Planning Consultants Evans Jones, said: "This was our best supported BIG Golf day ever, with 12 teams out on the course, on what was a beautiful sunny day. Europe cleaned up against USA in our Ryder Cup inspired event, 8 and a half to 3 and a half, so it was definitely a day for the Europeans! I would urge any local businesses looking for networking opportunities to join BIG and help some great causes in the process".
Ian Henderson of CF Roberts, said: "CF Roberts were delighted to be involved in this latest BIG golf day. This is our 3rd year that we have sponsored the event and look forward to continuing our support and assisting with the development of the Business in Gloucestershire golf society. Thanks to all who attended and supported our nominated Charity, Young Gloucestershire".
Karl Gwilliam, Fundraising Manager for Young Gloucestershire said: "The support of Business in Gloucestershire Society is fantastic and the money raised will provide a hand-up rather than a hand-out to out-of-work young people from Gloucestershire".
