Vacancy - Part Time/Flexible Hours Building Surveyor

Evans Jones has an opportunity for an experienced, ideally Chartered, Building Surveyor to carry out Residential Building Surveys on a flexible basis.

The role is designed to cover excess demand for residential surveys which is likely to increase with the launch of our new online quotation tool. As a result, it is envisaged that it will initially be a wholly flexible post based on demand, but it may develop into a part or even full-time role in the longer term.

It is envisaged that the role would suit a semi-retired surveyor or perhaps someone who is looking to fit in some well-paid work around a busy family life on a wholly flexible basis, but we are open-minded.

Subject to the right skills, there may be scope to fulfil other duties such as Commercial Surveys, Schedules of Condition and Fire Reinstatement Valuations.

The Duties:

The role will involve the completion of residential building surveys in the Gloucestershire area, with most being within 15 miles of our offices in Cheltenham.

We have an automated quoting system so the right candidate will need to be able to pick up instructions and complete surveys with minimal input from the office and we will provide all the tools necessary to facilitate remote working.

This said, we will provide full administrative and typing support from our Cheltenham office.

We adopt a traditional approach to surveys, which is why we no longer offer Homebuyers Surveys, so expect all of our surveyors to be able to offer detailed advice on a wide range of residential properties and, most importantly to be able to communicate this effectively in written format.

The right candidate will be flexible with good building pathology and great report writing skills.

Survey properties will range from modern 1 bedroom flats to multi-million pounds Listed Mansions.

Experience:

The role is aimed at a Chartered Building Surveyor with experience of residential surveying.

Key skills:

Flexible and self-motivated. Good building construction and pathology knowledge. Great report writing skills. IT literate with ability to use Microsoft Outlook and Word essential.

Remuneration:

Fixed scale for surveys. Hourly rates for other duties. Subject to negotiation.
