David Jones Completes leg 3 of Uganda Charity Cycle Ride

David Jones, Partner and head of Planning Services for Evans Jones LLP has completed leg 3 of the Cleansheet Foundation Uganda Cycle Ride.Leg 3 of the ride was completed by 5 local businessmen including David Jones of Evans Jones LLP. David Williams of Hazelwoods LLP, Simon Firkins of SF Planning. The two other riders are completing all 5 legs of the ride (Nick Bevan of NBconsulting and John Morrison of Morrison Developments)

Leg 3 started in Budapest (Hungary) and took the riders through Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia, with the riders completing up to 105 miles per day for 6 consecutive days. Leg 3 finished close to the Macedonian/Greek border.

David commented after completing the ride:
This was a great experience, the extensive training prior to the event really paid off. The harder aspects of the ride was the tedium of riding through very dull countryside for hour after hour, then eating sleeping and starting the hole process again the next day. The evident poverty particularly in Serbia helped to remind all riders why they agreed to put themselves through the pain.

The charity aims to raise £150,000 from the cycle ride and associated fund raising events. Funds raised will go, in part, towards helping rebuild Koch Gomo’s school, near Gulu. The school was devastated during the Ugandan Civil War with many of the children either orphaned or kidnapped by rebel armies and forced to fight.
