Approach to the environment
Evans Jones is fully committed to a sound Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach including a focus on sustainability, the environment, health and safety and the needs of all our stakeholders.
In a time where we are all becoming more aware of our impact on the environment and the rising cost of fuel required to heat and power our offices and homes, Evans Jones is committed to adopting sustainable forms of development planning, design and construction processes making buildings more environmentally friendly.
Similar to our approach to sustainability, Evans Jones has a firm commitment to policies that limit our impact on the environment. One example includes our Travel Plan projects which promote:
- The use of public transport, walking and cycling
- A reduction in the use of cars and the encouragement of car sharing
- The provision of office shower facilities and secure cycle parking
- Removal of the automatic right to allocated parking spaces
- Working from home via remote access to company computer systems
- Subsidised cycle purchases
In addition to its own Travel Plan policy encompassing all of the above, Evans Jones has also adopted the use of low energy lighting, solar film and investment in a shared company Smart car.
The Smart car is an ecologically sound vehicle which is lightweight and has been designed to take up less room in congested city centres. It has electronic power management that prevents the engine from emitting pollutants and an economy transmission mode to save fuel. It is also assembled in modules which guarantee that the car and its parts can be dismantled and recycled economically at the end of its useful life. Evans Jones investment in the Smart car enables its staff to continue to utilise public transport, walking, cycling and car sharing initiatives to get to and from work, regardless of whether or not they have off-site business meetings to attend during the day.
