Planning Permission approved for Chipping Campden homes

An application to Cotswold District Council has been approved to build 40 new homes in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.

The land, which is located off Aston Road in Chipping Campden, is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty (ANOB) and is currently being used as agricultural land. Plans have been approved to provide 40 new residential units, half of these being much-needed affordable homes.

The site area is approximately 2.5 hectares in size and is located adjacent to the north western edge of Chipping Campden. The area of proposed development lies to the northeast of the B3045 Aston Road, which runs northwest from the centre of Chipping Campden. The site lies alongside the allotments and gardens of houses fronting Aston Road.

The provision of 40 homes is in line with the Emerging Local Plan, whereby a total of 208 dwellings is proposed for Chipping Campden over the period April 2011 to March 2031.

Respecting the Cotswold style is a main consideration in the design philosophy of the proposal, retaining a sensitive transition from built development to open countryside. The layout will seek to retain a sensitive interface with the countryside to incorporate an attractive softer edge. It is proposed that the scheme will retain an area of open space with paths running through it.

The intention is to move away from a suburban housing estate feel to a more village feel in the Cotswold style. Therefore the layout shows a variety of houses sizes and types, including terraced houses semi detached and larger plots.
