BIG Golf Society Day 16th July 2010

Latest BIG Society day a BIG success

Amid gloomy skies and near monsoon downpours the intrepid BIG society members battled their way around Lilleybrook Golf Club for the 6th installment of the BIG Society (Mr Cameron – no pun intended and we were here first).

In truth whilst the showers were absolutely torrential they were short lived and by the end of the round the intrepid golfers were rewarded with bright sunshine in which to enjoy a well earned beer.

Scoring on the day was marginally down on the usual high (some would say artificially inflated) standards of the BIG society with the author′s team of Phil Wynn and Jonathon Rooney of Zenith and Andrew James of Harrison Clark collecting the spoils with a score of 123 Stableford points.

Individual honours were taken by Bruce Lunt of BPE (again) with a score of 41 points. Bruce has become one of the more consistent performers of the BIG society and I am pleased to confirm that, as a result his handicap will be cut for the next event!

A newcomer, James Gibbs from REP Group took the longest drive with Jonathon Rooney capping a great day for his team by taking the Nearest the Pin prize.

A special thanks goes to our event sponsor Bamford and Associates, a Senior Member of St James Place Partnership, for their support. Thanks to their efforts, and those attending, the day raised more than £650 for the St James Place foundation.

The next BIG Society (I am now waiting for a call from Conservative Party lawyers) day will be held at Minchinhampton GC on 13th August. This day is being sponsored by Randall and Payne.
