Quality Management

Evans Jones LLP achieves OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 and 9001 accreditation.

Evans Jones LLP achieves the triple in securing accreditation under OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 and 9001.

Evans Jones LLP, a multi disciplinary practice of Architects, Planners, Building Consultants and Access Consultants is one of the first practices to achieve the triple rated standard encompassing Quality Management (9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety (BS:0HSAS 18001).

The practice took the decision 18 months ago to seek independent accreditation of the various systems which had already developed over the previous 30 years of trading.

John Everitt, Partner and head of the Architectural Division, had overall responsibility for the transition from a range of internal procedures and practices to the more formalised requirement set out within the various standards.

John comments: “in committing to lay our systems open for independent inspection there was a degree of trepidation that compliance would generate perhaps unwelcome bureaucracy and unnecessary paperwork.

Working with independent consultants we developed a system which was specifically geared to a professional practice. In practice, it was a satisfied that the majority of practices and procedures that we already had in place required only slight tweaking.
”.

As a practice at the leading edge of sustainable design and construction we considered it important that we “walked the talk” and it was unreasonable for us to preach sustainable practices to our clients when we were not proactively seeking to operate in a sustainable manner ourselves.

The environmental management element has achieved unanimous support from our staff and suppliers, we are now seeing positive benefits flowing from the hard work in reducing energy and paper usage. As so often with environmental management it is the small items which can make a big difference.

We continue to monitor the environmental demands of the practice and we are committed to making year on year improvements.

We are seeing both within the public and private sector enquiries potential clients requesting confirmation that we operate an approved quality management system which is subject to independent audit.

All too often we see competing companies making vague comments upon tender returns implying that they operate some form of quality management system or are working towards adoption of a quality management system. In reality such responses are meaningless as an instructing clients has no means of determining whether such informal systems provide the necessary checks and balances demanded in the modern workplace.
